My Story: Why I Created StomaGuard

For a long time after my surgery, my world felt like it had shrunk. Every car journey, every night’s sleep, and even a simple hug felt like a risk to my stoma. I went searching for protection, but the options I found were disappointing. Most "solutions" were bulky, uncomfortable, and incredibly inconvenient. Many required expensive double-sided tape that was a hassle to apply and even more frustrating to replace daily.

I knew there had to be a better way—something that offered real security without needing to be taped to my skin. When I couldn't find it, I decided to design it myself.

That is how StomaGuard was born. I used 3D printing technology to create a shield that is ultra-lightweight—only 18 grams—so you can wear it 24/7 without even noticing it’s there. Unlike other products, StomaGuard fits exactly around the stoma bag, meaning no part of the device actually touches your skin. It’s made from a sustainable, biodegradable corn starch-based plastic that is hard-wearing and food-safe.

The final hurdle was the car. Standard seat belts pressed directly against my stoma, making every trip a source of anxiety. This led me to develop the StomaBuddy seat belt clip. It has become an essential part of my travel routine. Crafted from durable PETG, it keeps the belt securely in place with enough clearance for the bag to breathe, yet it’s engineered to release safely in the event of an accident.

I designed StomaGuard to protect my own stoma and regain my active lifestyle. Today, I’m proud to offer that same confidence, comfort, and convenience to you—without the high costs or the messy tape.
